In 1999, Heirloom Studio was
commissioned by the Museum of Fine
Arts, Houston to re-create several
frames for the Remington collection.
Unfortunately, during the 1970's, all the
original hand-carved, water-gilt frames,
chosen by Remington himself, were
discarded and replaced with weathered,
grey, "barn-wood" frames. This frame
was the only original that remained in
the museum's possession, it had been
stripped of its gilding and painted grey.
We restored this beauty to its original
glory with water-gilt 22k genuine gold
leaf on red bole, and made several hand-
carved copies for the rest of the collection.
