When this painting came to the studio,
it was wearing a rather disheveled
reproduction Louis XV frame.
We convinced the collector to forgo the
cost of restoration, and commission a
new frame more befitting the artwork.
The original inner frame was salvaged
and conserved then paired with a new,
custom designed, outer frame that
accentuates the serenity of the painting.
The new frame is a deep ogee profile,
textured with sand, oil-gilt on ochre with
water-gilt compo shells; topped with an
arch-shaped profile and faceted corner
blocks, water-gilt in 22k genuine gold
leaf on brown bole to match the original
