This hand-sculpted architectural frieze was created for the stair-tower in the Nowlin house in Austin, Texas.
It employs the imagery of ancient Mayan glyphs symbolizing 'water places', sacred to the Maya people. It is
finished in flash-gilded variegated bronzing powders. Based on a design by Nikolai Grube, commissioned by
Fern Santini, Abode; and Paul Lamb, Paul Lamb Architects.
